Orthotics

Valley Orthopedic Technology fits each patient with the most appropriate device and specializes in custom one of a kind orthoses. We offer spinal, upper/lower extremity devices, fabricated with custom-molded thermoplastics offering advanced functionality, increased durability, patient comfort, and cosmetic appeal.

We have significant experience in pediatric orthoses, adult pathological bracing, and sport injury orthoses. Patients are typically fit with custom thermoplastic orthoses. when appropriate we may include a combination of other materials in to our designs.

Each patient is analyzed for their particular pathological and/or biomechanical impairment(s). Then we determine the goals of orthotic bracing and the appropriate application of forces to achieve  these goals. A custom orthotic brace is then designed and then manufactured specific to the patients needs. Once manufactured the device is fit to the patient and fine tuned for maximum effectiveness.

Our skills at diagnosing the biomechanical deficiencies and determining the most effective orthotic support systems give our devices an unprecedented degree of mobility and function over other more widely used designs.

We continue to strive to improve our designs and systems. As biomechanical and material technology advances our staff undergoes continuing training and education to keep abreast of these new developments, allowing us to continue to provide patients of all ages with the best possible orthotic care.

Valley orthopedic Technology strives to work within the medical community in a team approach. The various orthotic designs that we provide are intended to treat a variety of specific conditions and symptoms such as:

  • Ankle Braces
  • Ankle-Foot Orthoses (AFO, GRAFO)
  • Knee Braces
  • Patella Tendon Bearing Orthoses (PTBO)
  • Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthosis (KAFO)
  • Reciprocating Gait Orthosis (RGO)
  • Custom Hand Orthoses
  • Spinal Orthosis
  • Pectus Braces

In general, orthotic goals are to:

Prevent Deformity/Misalignments : This is done by maintaining ROM (Range Of Motion), maintaining correct alignment, and limiting potentially damaging motions.

Improve function : This is done by preventing deformity, providing stability, and applying the “best” design for the patient.

Facilitate Development : This is done through an ongoing process of evaluation and working with Physicians, Therapists, and family to provide the best design for achieving rehab and developmental goals.
